Lestat is the brat prince (as Marius would say). He has always wanted fame. Even as a mortal he killed a pack of wolves to be reconized by the town.
After he was given the dark gift he started the Theater of the Vampires, where mortals were killed on stage before mortals during live shows.
Then, he published two books that told all of the secrets of the immortals and made a CD and held a concert.
All in all, Lestat caused a LOT of trouble to the immortal world.

He is the father of Claudia, Gabrielle, Nicki and Louis.
A self-acknowledged imp, he was responsible for the dissolution of the Paris coven, with which he clashed in his first year as a vampire, thereby earning both the hatred and love of the coven leader, Armand.
He was also partly to blame for the awakening of Akasha ,in the late 1980s, when he decided to become a rock star and chose as the subject of several of his songs the legend of Those Who Must be Kept.
He is the main character in all of the chronicles, and narrator of two and most of another. It's speculated that, in physical appearance at least, he's modelled on Stan Rice, Anne's poet husband.
